In preparation for the tour, the Kids From Wisconsin underwent an intense 2.5-week training camp at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Each day, the 22 singers and dancers, along with the 14-member band, engaged in a rigorous schedule that included breakfast, two hours of dance rehearsal, lunch, two more hours of dance, one to two hours of vocal training, and dinner, followed by even more dance practice. This demanding regimen, according to performer Ian Black, was "probably the most challenging thing I've ever done, but every second of it was worth it."Captivating Audiences Across the State and Beyond
The Kids From Wisconsin's "Larger Than Life" tour is a whirlwind of performances, taking the group across nearly the entire state of Wisconsin, with brief forays into Minnesota and Iowa. From north to south, east to west, the troupe will traverse farmlands and cities, delighting audiences in approximately 40 communities. "To be a part of this group; to have this as my first professional gig as a performer, is amazing," he said.Despite the demanding schedule and the challenges of navigating on-stage snafus, such as a recent guitar malfunction, Black has embraced the experience with enthusiasm. He particularly looks forward to the group's annual performance in Dubuque, Iowa, which draws crowds of over 3,000 people.
